Terms and Conditions
Revised 1 st December 2006
General
By booking an appointment with Roblett Computer Systems you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions as laid out below.
These Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights.
The No-Fix, No-Fee Policy
Our No-Fix, No-Fee policy means that if our engineer does not possess the necessary technical knowledge or ability to resolve the problem or carry out the repair, then no charge is made to the customer.
If the engineer is able to resolve the problem or carry out the repair, but is only prevented from doing so by the customer requesting the engineer not to proceed with the work, then the customer is charged the standard callout fee.
If the engineer is able to resolve the problem or carry out the repair, but is only prevented from doing so because the customer does not possess the required software CD-Rom or Product Key, then the customer will be charged the standard callout fee.
If the engineer provides a clear and precise diagnosis of a failed component and the customer decides not to proceed with the replacement of the component, then the customer will be charged the standard callout fee.
Due to the nature of the problem, this policy does not apply to work related to computer virus or spyware removal. Nor does it apply to cases in which the computer has been struck by lightning.
Repairs and Upgrades
Wherever possible, repairs and upgrades will be carried out on site. However, sometimes it may be necessary to remove the base unit to conduct repairs at our premises. We will also ask to remove the base unit if it is more cost effective for the customer. While the PC is in our care it will be covered against accidental damage. It will not be covered for component or hardware failure. Should a component fail whilst the unit is being worked on the customer will be informed.
Should the reported problem re-occur, please inform us within 7 days of the initial repair and we will arrange to re-visit you without any additional callout costs. Any problems not reported within this time will be chargeable at our standard rates. Due to the nature of the problem, virus and spyware removal is not covered by the 7 day guarantee.
All new items sold carry a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty. PC systems built by Roblett Computer Systems carry a 1 year on-site warranty. This warranty covers the hardware only and does not cover software faults.
Used and refurbished items will only be guaranteed for a period of 28 days. Should a used or refurbished item fail within this period it will be replaced with a similar used or refurbished part. Where no used or refurbished part is available and a new part needs to be sourced the customer will be liable for the difference in price between the item supplied and the new item.
Your Data
It is very important that where possible you back up any important files (word documents, photographs, etc.) before work is undertaken as Roblett Computer Systems will not be held responsible for the loss or damage of any data or files whilst the computer is in our care or being worked upon.
Data Recovery
In some cases it is possible to recover files that have been deleted or are held on a damaged or faulty hard drive. However, it is not always possible to predict accurate results and guarantee the successful return of the files you have specified. Should you wish to partake of our data recovery service please be aware that as it is a long process and can tie up a computer for 24 hours in some cases, if we are able to recover any files, regardless of relevancy to yourself (excluding Windows system files), the standard charge for file recovery will apply. Only in cases where no files can be recovered from the hard drive will the fee will not be charged. We recommend that to avoid disappointment you should always back up any important files regularly to a secondary device, CD Rom or floppy disk on a regular basis.
Telephone Support
Telephone and email support will only be available on jobs that have been undertaken by ourselves and then only within the 7 day warranty period. Outside this period customers are requested to book an appointment at the usual hourly rates. This does not apply to hardware issues on PC systems that have been purchased from us as they are covered by the 1 year onsite warranty.
Payment
Payment is due upon completion of the repair or the return/delivery of the PC. We accept Cash, Cheques and Bank Credit Transfer as forms of payment. Cheques can only be accepted with a valid Cheque Guarantee card. No other forms of payment will be accepted. We do not offer credit terms or business accounts.
Please make sure that you have the means to pay before the technician arrives. Failure to pay the technician once the repair is completed will result in immediate court action being taken.
Should a repair be carried out on our premises and we are unable to contact the customer to arrange to return it, either by telephone or by letter, the PC will be held by us for a period of six months. After this period, if the computer is not collected, we will dispose of it and any funds recovered by the disposal will go towards the cost of repair, storage and administration costs.
Payments by Pay-Pal are also acceptable; however, due to the costs incurred by us in receiving the payments, we will add a charge of 5% of the total invoice amount to cover this.
Should a cheque be returned by our bank as being unpaid, we will add an additional charge of £25 to cover our bank charges and administration charges occurred in recovering the outstanding debt.
We understand and will exercise our statutory right to claim interest and compensation for debt recovery costs under the late payment legislation if we are not paid according to agreed terms. Please be aware that interest will be due on this debt, if it remains unpaid past a 7 day deadline, interest will accrue at the statutory rate of 12.75% for every day the amount remains overdue.
